The Playwise website is a wonderful resource for all practitioners. It presents everything you need to consider, know about and reflect on, in a series of rooms containing indoor and outdoor experiences for children from birth to five and in the section offering ideas on how you might support children’s development across each of the EYFS areas of learning and development. The photography is excellent, the guidance is simple but thought provoking and the Playwise philosophy of respect for each unique child shines through it all.

It has been meticulously researched and compiled with very helpful links made across the EYFS areas of learning and development. Observation is firmly put at the heart of assessment and planning, with helpful resources and suppliers listed and downloadable images provided. There are even labels to stick on your accessible resource boxes and trays. This is a true treasure trove for anyone who works with young children.

Katharine has been key to supporting our early years workforce from delivery of early years training to the wider workforce, through to high level bespoke training for graduate professionals. Katharine really connects with the workforce and her passion and vision for quality early years practice is apparent in all the training she delivers. Katharine has effectively written and delivered tailored training to meet our specific needs, and goes the ‘extra mile’ in her support.

Louise Swales | Extended Services Workforce Development Manager, North Yorkshire County Council

With the introduction of the EYFS, we felt the need for some bespoke training as a whole staff team, on the new guidance.

After, hearing Katharine speak at a conference and being really interested in the Playwise package, we decided to ask Katharine to deliver a full days training for us. Katharine made the day fun, informative and interesting, leaving the staff team motivated and enthusiastic.

As a nursery we decided to follow the training day with Katharine spending a day with us, while in operation,  to ensure we were putting the theory into practice. This proved extremely useful, again motivating the team and resolving any problems they may be having with routine or the paperwork.

We are very pleased we invested the money into this training and the Playwise package, as it made the transition to the EYFS smoother and manageable and we went on to gain an Ofsted Outstanding rating.

I would not hesitate in using the company again for our training needs and feel Katharine would provide a great support with our future training and in an advisory role.

Samantha Orange | Nursery Manager, Abacus Nursery (OFSTED rated, Outstanding setting), Wakefield.

I first met Katharine when I attended various early years training courses provided by the local authority. I was so inspired by her enthusiasm for following children’s interests and her ‘can do’ approach often using everyday resources that I asked her to come to our nursery and work with the nursery team.

Katharine provided consultancy where she worked with the whole team to reflect on practice. She then provided support to action plan ideas for improvement. By involving the whole team it has allowed them to take ownership of change while celebrating what they were already doing well.

We have adopted the Early Years Foundation Stage planning system written by Katharine and Liz Richardson. Katharine carried out whole team training on its implementation and revisited us last year to review where we are and helped us to action plan to move the planning forward again.

Katharine has built up an excellent relationship with all practitioners who enjoy working with her and are comfortable to ask for support and guidance. This has had a positive impact on practice and also staff development.

Working with Katherine is always fun and inspiring. She always leaves us with lots of ideas and suggestions and a real sense of achievement.
